Course Description

The Johns Hopkins University Clinical Vestibular Competency Course is designed for rehabilitation specialists (physical therapists/occupational therapists) and healthcare providers with a strong interest in vestibular pathology and rehabilitation. This is a hybrid, intensive, course which consists of online lectures available until November 30, 2025 with a three day in-person gathering for additional lecture, lab, and examination to achieve certification of competency if so desired. Participation in the examination for certification of competency is optional. Upon successful demonstration of skill competence consistent with program objectives attendees will receive a Certificate of Competency. The granting of the Certificate of Competency does not certify that the participant retains those skills and knowledge or applies them appropriately in the future. Those who do not demonstrate skill competence consistent with program objectives will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

This course has been approved by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for 46.3 CE hours.

Certificate

After successfully completing the course, learners will receive a certificate of completion from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

Technical Prerequisites

The course will take place on the Canvas LMS (Canvas.jhu.edu). You will need the ability to log on to the platform, preferably using Google Chrome, to complete the content, which will include videos, readings, and assignments. You may also need to take part in other activities on Canvas.jhu.edu.

Course Lifecycle and Access

After registering, you will receive an email confirming your registration. You will be granted access to the course, which includes complete course information. Please check the course listing for additional information on course access dates. For synchronous courses, learners will have access to the Canvas course for the duration of the course. For asynchronous courses, learners will have access for 180 days after registration.

Synchronous Courses

Accreditation

JHU is not approved by Middle States for direct assessment credentials for academic credit. This course results in a certificate of completion. It will not show on any JHU transcripts and does not count toward an academic record.
